Engineers and executives advancing the frontier of AI for tax.
A team that has built machine learning systems, advised federal agencies on AI, run tax credit programs at national scale, and examined R&D Tax Credit claims inside the IRS. That mix is why the product reads the record of the work, and why every study is organized the way an examination is run.

Your R&D already holds patentable inventions.
The commits, tickets and threads behind your R&D Tax Credit are often the first record of a new invention. Deepinvent, DeepFi’s parent company, finds them, checks novelty against the global patent corpus, and drafts filing-ready provisionals with figures and claims.

Granted patents corroborate the technical record behind the credit, and defensible IP is an asset investors and acquirers can value.
A granted U.S. patent is conclusive evidence of the discovery element of Section 41b, and every filing adds a dated technical record that corroborates your study.

b Treas. Reg. § 1.41-4(a)(3)(iii): issuance of a U.S. utility patent is conclusive evidence that a taxpayer discovered information that is technological in nature. Plain answers to the questions tax directors and founders ask us.
Who qualifies for the R&D Tax Credit?
Businesses that develop or improve products, processes, software, techniques or formulas through a process of experimentation grounded in engineering, computer science or the physical or biological sciences. The four-part test of Section 41 governs. Software, hardware, manufacturing process improvement and life sciences work commonly qualify. Startups with losses can still benefit through the payroll tax offset.
Can I claim credits for past years?
Yes. You can generally amend returns for open tax years, typically up to 3 years back from when you filed. DeepFi reviews each open year for qualifying R&D you never claimed, and our tax team builds the study behind each amended claim, with every dollar documented to the IRS standard for refund claims.
What does “in as little as 30 days” mean?
Two mechanisms can put the credit to work within weeks of filing. Qualified small businesses, with under $5 million in gross receipts and none more than five years back, may elect to apply up to $500,000 of credit against payroll tax deposits beginning the first calendar quarter after the return is filed. Where offered, optional third-party advance funding against a pending refund can be approved within days. Standard IRS refunds on amended returns take months, and we say so up front.
Does the AI prepare my return?
No. Purpose-built AI reads your source systems and drafts the classification, business components and effort estimates. Our tax team reviews every component and makes the final calls, and an independent CPA reviews the study before filing. DeepFi does not prepare or sign tax returns. The AI does the reading. People take responsibility.
How are fees structured?
A fixed-dollar fee, quoted in writing after a no-cost scoping review and set at signing. The quote reflects the size and complexity of the expected study, and the fee does not change with the outcome of the claim. The independent CPA review is a separate flat fee, disclosed with the quote.
What happens if the IRS examines the claim?
Every study ships with what an examiner asks for first: business components, activities and expenses in Section G form, and the original artifacts behind every figure, sealed and retained for seven years with chain of custody. Our method was built with a former IRS R&D Tax Credit examiner, so the study is organized the way an examination is run. Your preparer responds with the record in hand.
How is our data protected?
Sources connect through OAuth with scoped permissions. Artifacts are sealed with Ed25519 signatures and SHA-256 manifests and retained for seven years. Customer data is never used to train our models. Our SOC 2 Type II attestation is in progress, and an independent penetration test was completed in 2026.
Can DeepFi find patentable inventions in our R&D records?
Often, yes. The commits, tickets and threads behind your R&D Tax Credit regularly describe technical problems solved in new ways. Through Deepinvent, our parent company, those records can be checked against the global patent corpus for novelty and turned into provisional drafts with figures and claims. Your counsel decides what to file, or partner IP attorneys file through Deepinvent at member rates. The inventions and drafts are assigned to you.
Does a patent prove our work qualifies for the R&D Tax Credit?
No. Under Treas. Reg. § 1.41-4(a)(3)(iii), a granted U.S. utility patent is conclusive evidence that you discovered technological information. That is one element of the Section 41 test. A patent does not by itself establish a process of experimentation, and a pending application carries no safe harbor. Filings still give your study a dated technical record of the problem and the approach, and a patent is never required to claim the credit.
Start with a no-cost scoping review.

1 Aggregate figures for engagements led or supported by members of the DeepFi team over their careers, including at prior firms, based on figures reported by those firms: more than $20 billion in tax credits claimed and more than 130,000 companies served. These figures are not a measure of results achieved by DeepFi, and past results do not predict your outcome.
2 Timing applies to qualified small businesses applying the credit against payroll tax deposits under Section 41(h), beginning the first calendar quarter after the return is filed, or to optional third-party advance funding where offered, subject to approval and fees. Timing depends on filing date and eligibility. IRS refund processing for amended returns takes substantially longer.
